Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey

It was a rainy morning - the rain being blown against the window of the inn where I was staying had briefly woken me up in the early hours of the morning.  I did not rush to leave.  I drove to Cannery Row, but I can't say that I was impressed.  The name comes from the fact that huge quantities of sardines were once canned there.  I enjoyed some delicious local squid, but there are no more sardines.  Nowadays Cannery Row is a very modest tourist mall and a magnificent acquarium.  The acquarium is not of any great interest to me, so I briefly wandered around the shops, but it was still raining, and you have to go outside to get from one section to another.  I decided to continue on into Monterey.  By the time I found a parking place, you could see the first indications of sunshine, and it turned out to be a sunny afternoon.
